It’s amazing how changing some eating habits can help improve your health in the long run. I was told about Smart Swaps last year while shopping for new pocket watches in the shopping mall.
I decided to follow the tips and one of the health tips that I like most is substituting white rice with brown rice or unpolished rice. I know many people can’t bear the smell or taste of brown rice. Remember though, delicious foods are never healthy; healthy foods are never tasty.
I am so used to eating brown rice that whenever I am served white rice in the restaurant, I will only eat a small portion of white rice. In other words, I eat more vegetables when there is no brown rice.

* Margarine to butter. Why ? Butter contains polysaturated fats, which are higher in Omega-3 fatty acids.
* White rice to brown rice. Why ? After polishing, all that’s left in white rice is starch.Brown rice contains more essential vitamins and minerals.
* Drinks with caffeine to soya bean milk. Why ? Soya bean contains phytoestrogens, which help balance hormonal imbalances. Caffeinated drinks deplete calcium resources.
* Crisps to nuts. Why ? Toasted nuts have natural fats while deep fried crisps are high in empty calories.
