Don’t Skip Breakfast! Drink Orange Juice & Munch On A Cereal Bar October 24, 2008

Studies show that those who skip breakfast don’t perform as well, and eat more during the day.

That’s why I make sure that I eat breakfast daily. If I keep my body in starve mode, it’ll go only into saving mode, meaning it will store more energy - and fat !

Even if I haven’t got the time for a decent sit-down breakfast, there’s a range of healthy choices to help me get my day started. I can munch on a cereal bar and down it with a glass of Sunkist orange juice.

Orange juice is an excellent source of Vitamins A, C, and E, potassium, folate, calcium, iron and thiamin. A cloudy looking juice with pulp is a good sign that it’s made 100% from oranges.

Arghhh… Oral Ulcer Again ! May 11, 2007

How often do you get oral ulcer ? For me, it’s quite often.

When I have oral ulcer, life will become a torture for me. This is because I am a Language Tutor. I need to talk most of the time. The pain really dampens my spirit and passion.

Even worse is when I can’t cancel my classes. That means I have to bear with the pain…I will hate myself as I live from paycheck to paycheck. canceling classes means a decrease in my salary. With $59,000 credit card debts, I can’t simply cancel the classes.

Have you ever had a few spots at the same times ? Yes, I have. The most serious was 3 spots - mouth and tongue. The side of the tongue ! Imagine your teeth hurting the side of the tongue each time you talk. Argh….

What are the causes of mouth ulcer ? There are many processes which can lead to ulceration of the oral tissues. In some cases, they are caused by an overreaction by the body’s own immune system. Factors that appear to provoke them include stress, fatigue, illness, injury from accidental biting, hormonal changes, menstruation, sudden weight loss, food allergies and deficiencies in vitamin B12, iron and folic acid.

In my case, I know that the lack of vitamin B12 and stress are the main causes. I do not consume enough B12 from eggs, milk and breakfast cereals. Fermented soy products, seaweeds and algae have all been proposed as possible sources of B12.

Spirulina, an algae available as a dietary supplement in tablet form, and nori, a seaweed, have both appeared to contain significant amounts of B12 after analysis.

To get instant relief, I resort to mouthwash - Bactidol, a clear, red colored solution, protects against oral bacterial and fungal infection to give you fast relief from sore throats. Its special formulation, which contains Hexetidine, is clinically proven to have dual action against sore throats and mouth ulcers.

First, Bactidol quickly reduces bacteria in the affected areas to help prevent and relieve soreness. Second, the Hexetidine it contains adheres to affected areas for extended periods of time, giving you long-lasting protection. For quick relief from sore throats and mouth ulcers, gargle with Bactidol for 45 seconds, 2 to 3 times a day.

I will try Natural Mouthwash suggested by fellow blogger Doris the next time I have oral ulcer. I will share with you…Touchwood !
