Find The Best Family Insurance Coverage For Your Family February 28, 2008

‘Eight out of 10 uninsured Americans either work or are in working families. Being uninsured means going without needed care. Tragically, it also means that one significant medical expense can wipe out a family’s life savings.‘
Most working families don’t have to read the statistics to understand the extent of the problem of health care for families. We are living it every day when we or our children are sick, every payday when we see the huge premium deducted from our checks, and every bill-paying when we pay our out-of-pocket medical and drug expenses.
We need to be smart to find solutions for our family’s health care. Parents must take steps to protect their family’s health and cope with illness in the crisis state of health care in the U.S.

Relieve Stress In Healthy Ways January 20, 2008
Posted by Health Mama in : Relieve Stress , add a commentLife is full of surprises and not all of them are good. Life’s little events can often cause stress, anxiety and a bad case of the blues. The holidays are often a rollercoaster of emotions, bringing out our best and, sometimes, our worst.
Then there are the unexpected surprises — losing a job, moving to a new city, contracting an illness, trying to speed up North Carolina land for sale and other events, big and small that test our mental strength.
Unfortunately, we can’t predict the future, but we can find ways to relieve stress in healthy ways. One of the best ways to work out the stress and pull yourself out of the dumps is to move your body.
When we feel down or depressed, we look for things that make us feel good. Often, we reach for the wrong things — food, alcohol, sleep or drugs which only make us feel worse instead of better.
Rather than reaching for the chocolate when you’re stressed, think of something you enjoy doing…something that feels good to you. It might be working in the garden, taking a slow bike ride or taking a walk with a friend.
Think of activities you like but rarely allow yourself time to do then commit to doing them as often as you can. Rhythmic activities like walking, raking leaves or even cleaning can be healing exercises — as your body gets into it’s own rhythms, you can let your mind go and work out problems, find solutions or just daydream for awhile.

Quick Test To Check Your Own Bad Breath May 9, 2007
Posted by Health Mama in : Health Tips / Matters , 1 comment so farHere’s a way to find out how your own breath smells: Cup your hands around your mouth, breathe forcefully into them, and take a whiff. Ehw.. If you think it smells bad, it probably smells dreadful to others.
In brief, halitosis or bad breath is easily recognized as unpleasant odor in the breath. It is caused by:
1. Poor dental hygiene;
2. Dietary habits (oopps.. I like eating curry);
3. Tooth or gum disease (When was the last time I went for my dental checkup ? Gosh.. April,2006 !);
4. Illnesses such as diabetes, liver disease and lung disease.
The culprits of bad breath are the millions of bacteria that live in the mouth.
