Poor Samm!

Poor Samm! Samm is my niece who has been very upset with her acne problem.

Well, what to do? Acne is very common amongst young girls.

Acne is not caused by poor hygiene, sweating, or not washing. It is a skin problem in which the skin pores get clogged with dirt and excess oil and thus ends up causing acne.

Thank God that acne is no longer an untreatable skin problem. There are lots of treatments available on the market to clear acne effectively.

Acne Treatment Options For Kids

Acne is a big problem that affects millions of teens. And although there are plenty of effective treatments available to treat acne today, many kids go without treatment.

Acne is not caused by poor hygiene or eating too much chocolate, or by any of the other myths that people believe. Instead, acne is typically caused by the rise in hormones during puberty, especially androgens, and their effect on oil glands in the skin.

Many parents seem to overlook their child’s acne problem though and don’t bring it to their Pediatrician’s attention, either because they think they can treat it effectively on their own or they don’t think it is important enough to go to the doctor for.

So be sure to schedule an appointment with your Pediatrician to discuss your child’s acne and see what acne treatment options are available.

Treating Teen Acne

Hubby has gone to the nearby pharmacy to look for some acne medications for a colleague’s teen son.

The boy’s doctor hasn’t prescribed any medications because his acne problem is considered mild and can be controlled by over-the-counter medications. Nonprescription or over-the-counter medications for acne are plentiful and are said to be effective for mild acne.

I wonder whether the oral acne medications that make use of various kinds of capsules and antibiotic pills to fight acne-causing bacteria and control inflammation caused by acne are the right treatment choice for his colleague’s teen.
