Call 15999 if you are a victim of domestic violence, child abuse or a natural disaster.
This hotline, called Talian Nur, will be the lifeline providing early intervention for these victims. It is also meant to make it easier for the authorities to provide welfare and care for those in need.

Then you also have the hundreds of diets out there such as “The Zone”, “Sugar Busters” or “The Atkins Diet”. I’m sure you have heard of many of these yourself. You might have even tried some of them.

Migraine is a form of headache which is severe and usually one sided, frequently associated with nausea and vomiting. Migraine headaches typically last from 4-72 hours and vary in frequency from daily to fewer than 1 per year.Migraines are due to changes in the brain and surrounding blood vessels.
According to research, migraine is three times more common in women than in men. Migraine headaches often have a trigger, such as changes in the hormonal cycle (in women and girls), foods, odors, noises, lights, fatigue, stress, or physical exertion.

Rats and cockroaches greeted a 15-man Health Department enforcement team that raided a belacan (shrimp paste) processing factory in Permatang Pauh.
The raiding party was also shocked to see maggots wriggling in a pile of unprocessed belacan.
The illegal factory located in a remote kampung house was immediately ordered to cease operations.
The team saw rats running here and there, and cockroaches scurrying about freely among the finished product and the exposed raw materials. Then they saw the maggots wriggling in a heap of exposed raw materials, stuff meant for use to make belacan. The whole place was dirty and disgusting and it stank. (more…)

Dec 1 marked World AIDS Day, as well as the culmination of the Dell Youth Speak Peer2Peer Educator Programme, a four-day workshop focused on teaching youth about the disease and equipping them with the skills to become facilitators.
The workshop brought together 12 boys and 24 girls between the ages of 12 and 16 from estate communities, who at first were embarrassed over the subject matter being discussed.
“It was my first time seeing a condom! I never spoke about sex and HIV with my friends before this. A lot of the girls, including me, covered our eyes during the first session. We were shy!” giggled Amreeta Kaur, 12.
Breaking down the children’s initial inhibitions while providing information to make healthy sexual decisions in a fun environment is what project facilitator Chris Ng aims to achieve.
This programme is about making youth realise that they have a voice and should use it to empower themselves, their peers and community.
The problem many face is how to make the issue of HIV/AIDS relevant to youth. This programme explains the technical aspects of the disease as well as allows them to tell their own stories which will resound with their peers.
